About Us
Tory and Chiara live in Davidson, with their two kids, Aria and Leo. Tory was born and raised in Davidson, while Chiara grew up in Turin, Italy. The two met while attending Norwich University and playing hockey for Norwich University Cadets. To this day, people are wondering how Tory convinced a girl from Turin Italy (a city of over 1 million people), to move to Davidson, Saskatchewan. In fact, Chiara still asks herself that question from time to time! Both of them were very involved in sports growing up, more specifically hockey. Hockey helped both of them develop their passion for exercising and staying fit. Because of this passion and with help from the covid pandemic, they invested in some fitness equipment and converted their basement into a gym. With the help and push of some friends, Chiara became a Certified Personal Trainer and started teaching classes in the basement. It quickly evolved into a community of women committed to showing up multiple times per week in the early mornings. The success of Chiara’s workouts and seeing the momentum the health and wellness movement was gaining, gave Tory and Chiara the confidence a fitness facility in Davidson was a sustainable venture. On August 1st, 2022, after looking into different options, they purchased the old Davidson Leader located at 205 Washington Avenue, and BarnYard Fitness was born.
Our Team
Chiara Traversa
Personal Trainer/Owner
Born in Turin, Italy, she moved to the United States at the age of 17 to chase her love for ice hockey. Her passion for the game propelled her forward, and she attended Norwich University, where she played goalie for the varsity hockey team while completing a four-year Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.
After college, she worked in New York City for four years before making a life-changing decision to move to Davidson, Saskatchewan in 2016 to be with her future husband. Though this move marked a significant change in her life, she has continued to push herself to new heights, demonstrating an unwavering work ethic and dedication to her family and community.
Driven by her passion for sport and fitness she became a Certified Personal Trainer and started the journey of opening BarnYard Fitness with her husband. She founded BarnYard fitness to create a welcoming community where people of all ages and abilities can come together to pursue their passion for fitness and sports.
Her journey is a testament to the power of perseverance and the importance of following one’s passion, no matter where it may lead.
