About Us

Tory and Chiara live in Davidson, with their two kids, Aria and Leo. Tory was born and raised in Davidson, while Chiara grew up in Turin, Italy. The two met while attending Norwich University and playing hockey for Norwich University Cadets. To this day, people are wondering how Tory convinced a girl from Turin Italy (a city of over 1 million people), to move to Davidson, Saskatchewan. In fact, Chiara still asks herself that question from time to time! Both of them were very involved in sports growing up, more specifically hockey. Hockey helped both of them develop their passion for exercising and staying fit. Because of this passion and with help from the covid pandemic, they invested in some fitness equipment and converted their basement into a gym. With the help and push of some friends, Chiara became a Certified Personal Trainer and started teaching classes in the basement. It quickly evolved into a community of women committed to showing up multiple times per week in the early mornings. The success of Chiara’s workouts and seeing the momentum the health and wellness movement was gaining, gave Tory and Chiara the confidence a fitness facility in Davidson was a sustainable venture. On August 1st, 2022, after looking into different options, they purchased the old Davidson Leader located at 205 Washington Avenue, and BarnYard Fitness was born.

Our Team

Jasey Book

Coach

Hailing from a farm west of Loreburn, Jasey has a rich background in sports, having excelled in volleyball, fastball, track and field, and hockey. Her hockey skills took her from her hometown to Swift Current and later to the University of Saskatchewan, where she balanced her athletic career with studying agriculture.

Jasey’s journey didn’t stop there. Her interest in anatomy led her to further education in the Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technology program at SIAST, and she currently works as a CLXT at Davidson hospital. It was during her time in Saskatoon that Jasey discovered CrossFit, a sport that mirrored her competitive spirit and appreciation for community and teamwork.

With her passion for fitness and a focus on creating supportive and realistic fitness solutions, Jasey has earned her ISSA Strength and Conditioning certification. She is dedicated to helping individuals reach their fitness goals in a practical and enjoyable way. Jacy will be teaching classes as well as offering personal training at Barnyard. We’re thrilled to welcome Jasey to our team and look forward to the positive impact she’ll bring to our fitness community.

Lindsay Johnson

Coach

Lindsay is a born and raised hometown girl.

Playing sports and being active have always been a huge part of Lindsay’s life. It’s hard to believe she almost didn’t sign up for Chiara’s fitness classes in the basement. Lindsay quickly became a frequent client, becoming hooked thriving off the feeling of pushing herself to do more than she knew she could moving her body. But, most importantly how much it improved her mentally.

Becoming a personal trainer was something that always sparked interest in Lindsay and in April of 2023 she took the leap and became an ISSA Certified Personal Trainer.

Lindsay is excited to see everyone at BarnYard Fitness and helping them become the absolute best version of themselves.

Lindsay started joining the “basement” when Nate was not even 3 months old. She didn’t just come once a week, she was a recurring 3 times a week – no excuses.

Her dedication and drive have not only transformed her own life but have also motivated and influenced others to pursue a healthier lifestyle. Her commitment is truly admirable.

Ashley Prpick

Coach

Ashley (Ash), raised on a ranch on the Alberta prairies, she understands the value of hard work and physical labour. This no doubt set her up well to be a life long athlete. In her youth, she took part in swimming, dance, volleyball and basketball. Her desire to be active, outdoors and to help others landed her her first job as a lifeguard and influenced her pursuit of a career in paramedicine. In college, Ash found a new challenge in the school’s fitness center, working out. Weightlifting and cardio training became her new recreational activity, coming up against a difficult competitor, herself. Ash enjoyed the mental development it took to hold herself accountable and to push for that last rep. It was during this time that Ash was first introduced to yoga.

Ash and her, now husband, Dean, set down roots in Camrose, AB where she found community and cultivated new skills at the local Crossfit box. Ash loved the confidence she gained and the euphoria felt after leaving it all out on the floor after an intense WOD. CrossFit introduced Ash to gymnastics, powerlifting, olympic lifting and rope climbing, which quickly became favorites. Ash is happy with any workout involving a barbell or being upside down!

In 2014 Ash’s mom and best friend, Kathy, passed away. It was later that year that a close friend proposed an intensive 200hr hatha yoga teacher course in Nicaragua. It was exactly what Ash’s soul needed. Ash started doing freelance yoga sessions for youth athletic teams and in-school programming. Ash later taught classes at Gauge Yoga Studio. Ash enjoys the connection and intimacy that in person classes offer.

Ash worked in the healthcare field as an Advanced Care Paramedic for ten years, in frontline EMS and later Community Care. She has a passion for helping others and aiding them to live their most healthy and fulfilled life. She became aware of how the system failed her patients and observed how people fell through the cracks. Ash hopes to be a part of a more holistic solution in the future.

In 2022 the Prpicks made the decision to move to Dean’s hometown of Davidson. Ash is adjusting to her new role of bookkeeper for the family farm and stay at home mom to their two children. A fan of deep conversation over a cup of tea, Ash wants to hear how you’re really doing. Ash is passionate about pregnancy & birth, holistic remedies and empowering women to tap into their power in the gym and the rest of their life. She is excited to join the BarnYard team and is looking forward to making lots of new, beautiful connections.
